This Ruby on Rails online coding test evaluates candidates’ abilities with data structures in Ruby. The test gives candidates 30 minutes to solve a problem using Ruby language structures. This assessment test will help you hire mid-level Ruby developers with strong skills.
Coding Question
Ruby developers, mid-level Ruby developers, senior Ruby developers, and any role that requires a strong grasp of data structures in Ruby.
Ruby has become one of the most popular languages for building web applications and is used on some of the biggest platforms and apps available such as the vacation booking site Airbnb, the streaming service Hulu, the popular developer site Github, and the review site Goodreads. Ruby boasts great flexibility, robust security, and short development periods, all of which have skyrocketed its popularity.
Working with and implementing data structures is crucial to the success of a Ruby developer. An effective data structure enables developers to effectively manage, organize, and represent data. Data structures are often implemented as objects, so the ability to effectively work with objects and understand object-oriented programming is an equally important skill to have when dealing with Ruby.
This Ruby coding test presents candidates with a data structure problem and gives them 30 minutes to implement a solution that meets the given requirements. Candidates can run the code against a few test cases to see if their solution is on track. Once they submit their test, the code is automatically scored by our software based on a more extensive set of test cases that also covers exceptions or corner cases. In the report you receive for each candidate, you can play back how the code came about in the coding editor.

Any tool can have functions—bells and whistles. Not every tool comes armed with staff passionate about making the user experience positive.
The TestGorilla team only offers useful insights to user challenges, they engage in conversation.
For instance, I recently asked a question about a Python test I intended to implement. Instead of receiving “oh, that test would work perfectly for your solution,” or, “at this time we’re thinking about implementing a solution that may or may not…” I received a direct and straightforward answer with additional thoughts to help shape the solution.
I hope that TestGorilla realizes the value proposition in their work is not only the platform but the type of support that’s provided.
